Day Program

The Options Day Program, which was discontinued in 2000, supported adults diagnosed with mental illness in identifying and using social, recreational and educational pathways to recovery. The program was based on the principles of psychiatric rehabilitation, and was strongly influenced by the Boston Psychiatric Rehabilitation Center and Fountain House models. Options programming emphasized socialization and life skills training rather than a format of continuous group psychotherapies.

On-site program hours offered both structured and unstructured group activities such as expressive arts, support for dealing with drug and alcohol dependence and life-skills training. There was opportunity for individuals to socialize and build friendships or attend groups outside of program hours. The program offered outreach into the community where staff members worked with individuals and small groups to help them access community-based resources.
